1989 - Ceramic Filters Company, Inc. started (In America) as the sole Agent and Importer for Fairey Industrial Ceramics, which are the manufactors of the authentic Doulton ceramic water filters, and owners of the "British Berkefeld" brand of water filter housings.

1998 – Doulton started dealing with NMCL for the sale of British Berkefeld branded gravity filter products

1999 – Doulton signed an agreement with NMCL (and Fairey) for NMCL to be the sole distributor for the SS4 model branded as a British Berkefeld. We also created (at his request) the Big Berkey which originally used 9” filters instead of the 7” filters used everywhere else in the world so that he had a competing unit against Katadyn’s gravity unit. NMCL then trademarked the name “Berkey™” and “Big Berkey™” in the US. We then introduced the Crown & Royal units for NMCL for people wanting a larger unit.

2000 – After Y2K, NMCL disappeared since nothing happened and the world did not end.

2001 – NMCL realized there was still a market for gravity products so we again started doing business with them.

2003 – "NMCL advised us they was developing a new water filter element and housing for it to be used in, and that it would help sales of the SS units and would not take anything away from British Berkefeld sales. Marketing of the Berkey Light™ and black Berkey elements happened soon after.

Since then, he has gone direct to India to have his own line of “Berkey” products manufactured and all of his stainless units NOW COME FROM INDIA. The Berkey Light™ unit is manufactured by a bottle manufacturer in California, who to this day uses BPA to make their water bottles, yet NMCL now claim the unit is made from co-polyester.

The black elements are being marketed as a “purifier”, yet according to the EPA, in order for a water filter to be deemed a purifier it must remove bacteria, protozoan cysts and virus. Since the black elements do not remove virus, his claim of a “purifier” is dubious at best.

The sports bottle NMCL offers was originally sourced through us, he then found an alternate source and he continues to sell them today, the same is to be said of the PFE add-on filter since it was also originally supplied by us as well. NMCL is all about control, without it he is lost, he still relies on the Doulton history to promote the Berkey name, which has no real history, he is merely using name recognition to promote an untested product to willing customers who trust his every word."

Doulton products are made in England, as they have been for well over 100 years.
